Your kind of day

Registry Wedding Form

Gabrielle Pritchard Celebrant

Thank you for choosing to have me as the celebrant for your upcoming wedding. Please complete the form below and read through the terms and legal requirements for your ceremony

I look forward to marrying you!

Terms and further details

A registry ceremony has a set cost and standard vows. You have to have it on a weekday, and not a public holiday.

Fee & Service

The fee for my celebrancy services is $90.00, and includes a simple registry ceremony only. My fee also includes ensuring the legal requirements of your marriage are fulfilled, including registering your marriage with BDM and travel to and from a venue for the wedding ceremony (travel outside 10kms of my home is additional if required or you may select a celebrant closer to your venue).

You need to bring two witnesses to the ceremony

Who can be a witness?

Your 2 witnesses must understand what’s happening during the ceremony. They must be able to clearly identify both of you and be satisfied you both consent to the marriage. They:

  • don’t need to have known you for any specific length of time and

  • can be children of any age, so long as they understand the concept of a marriage.

If the witnesses speak a different language to you, you’ll need an interpreter. The interpreter has to sign a declaration before the ceremony to say they’ll interpret what you say accurately.

The ceremony script

You must use standard vows:

After the ceremony, I will give you a “Copy of particulars of marriage”. This is not the same as a marriage certificate.

I’ll use another “Copy of particulars of marriage” to register your marriage with the NZ government.

Cancellation / Postponement / Timeliness

If you believe that there is a chance that your booking will be cancelled or postponed, please notify me as soon as is practicable. If you are late or do not attend at the agreed upon time, please be aware that you will need to reschedule and that your fee may not be refunded.

Unavailability

If I am not, for whatever reason, able to provide the service you have booked for I will use my best endeavours to find a substitute celebrant to provide the service in my place.

Marriage Licence

This has been sent / will be sent to me from the Births, Deaths and Marriages Service within the Department of Internal Affairs.

Marriage Certificate

After your marriage you may need a formal document to confirm the details and legal validity of your marriage. You may use the 'Copy of Particulars of Marriage' that we sign on your wedding day for this purpose. However, as the 'Copy of Particulars of Marriage' is a unique record of the wedding day, with the signatures of the bride and groom on it, some couples prefer to purchase a marriage certificate from Births, Deaths and Marriages for general use. If you did not order a Marriage Certificate when you applied for your marriage licence you may purchase one any time after your marriage has been registered.

Interpreters

If either of you has difficulty in understanding English, and/or if the witnesses speak a different language to you, you will need to arrange an interpreter. The interpreter must sign a statutory declaration before the ceremony to say they will interpret what you (and I) say accurately.

Use of Imagery / Testimonials

I may ask your permission to use photos taken at your wedding and/or for you to provide me with a testimonial, to be used for promotional purposes. You are under no obligation to grant such permission.

Practicalities On The Day

There are some practicalities that will ensure a smooth running ceremony:

  1. Please be on time!

  2. Please have your photo ID (e.g. Passport or Driver’s Licence) available.

  3. Please let me know if you will have an interpreter for the ceremony.
